Stratford Festival: World class theatre less than an hour from Waterloo.
During the weekend of Aug 4-7, there are at least a dozen productions including Macbeth, As You Like It, The Aeneid, A Chorus Line, and The Hypochondriac. For example, see The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe at 2 pm on Sunday, Aug 7th. Details at or call 1-800-567-1600.

Waterloo Region Museum tells the story of Waterloo region with rotating and permanent exhibits & Doon Heritage Village, a picturesque 60 acre living history village that recreates life in rural Waterloo County in 1914 at the same site. Entrance fee includes both museum and village.
Joseph Schneider Haus, a ‘hands-on’ historical museum at Kitchener’s oldest dwelling, and the beautiful, Victorian style Castle Kilbride in Baden are also worthwhile. Free parking at the museums. For additional details visit the web sites: and

St. Jacobs Farmers’ Market, Canada’s largest local indoor and outdoor market, open in the summer Tues, Thurs, and Sat, 7 am - 3:30 pm. St. Jacobs village with historic downtown, shops, and The Mennonite Story interpretive centre.

Detweiler Meetinghouse, created in 1855, located one kilometer straight west of Roseville, is the only surviving stone meetinghouse built by Mennonite pioneers in Ontario. Beautifully restored. Tours can be arranged.

For the younger cousins: Bingemans Grand Experiences: Big Splash waterpark, Funworx indoor playground, golf, mini golf, camping.

Cycling is the new golf in Waterloo Region. Riding in the countryside or mountain biking in the Hydrocut are very popular. Follow links from ‘Things to Do’ and ‘Tours & Trails’ at

Grand River Conservation Authority-Laurel Creek Conservation Area, in Waterloo, north on Westmount Rd from the reunion. A quiet place to relax and enjoy the outdoors. Swimming, camping, windsurfing, hiking and bird-watching are popular activities.
