The Schürch Family Association of North America

Join Our Study to Learn How You Relate to Other Schürchs

If you are a male Schürch, in any of the varied spellings of the name (such as Schuerch, Schurch, Scherich, Schirch, Sharick, Sherk, Sherck, Sherick, Sherrick, Shirck, Shirk, etc.), and believe that you are directly descended from a male Schürch through your paternal line, we’re inviting you to join your cousins in our Y-DNA Study. To be eligible for the study, your father, paternal grandfather, paternal great-grandfather and so on must be directly descended from a male Schürch. The Y chromosome is passed almost unchanged from father to son. A simple swabbing of your cheek is all that is needed for the test.

Family Tree DNA provides the Y-DNA37 testing for our study. Your test results will be reported to you by Family Tree DNA approximately 6 weeks after receipt of your samples.

Subsequently, your test results are analyzed and compared to the results of other Schürch cousins by our study leader, Tom Sherk. Tom will provide you with a summary of his analysis and comparison.

If you are interested in participating in our study, contact Tom Sherk at or at (610) 589-1888. Tom will answer any questions that you may have and coordinate your enrollment in the study. Please do not enroll directly with Family Tree DNA. To be part of the Schürch Family Association study and receive the group discount offered by Family Tree to those participating in our study, you must enroll through Tom.
